Dr. Enfinger and his team completely understand why it can be scary to visit the dentist. We hope to take a different approach that will eliminate that fear forever!
We offer a warm, welcoming environment with patient amenities for everyone. You will also be treated to gentle and conservative dentistry.
For some patients, sedation dentistry is a key part of overcoming their dental fear. Dental sedation can relax your gag reflex, calm fears, and allow you to sit through multiple procedures without difficulty. To learn more about our safe sedation options, read on or contact our office today.
Oral Conscious Sedation
One of the most commonly prescribed forms of dental sedation is oral conscious sedation. This moderate form of sedation decreases patient anxiety by reducing activity within the “fear” receptors of the brain.
In lower doses, oral conscious sedatives simply decrease anxiety without inducing sleep. Patients who want a little more sedation than nitrous oxide can provide will love the simplicity of taking a pill to achieve total tranquility during their procedure.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is used as a conscious form of sedation during your dental visit. This mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide is inhaled through a breathing mask. It has a calming effect that makes patients feel calm and content during their procedure.
There are no lasting effects after nitrous oxide. The moment the breathing mask is removed, you will feel back to yourself, and will even be able to drive yourself home after your appointment.
